The Real Murderers: Atheism or Christianity?

One of the criticisms that is commonly leveled against people of faith is that religion (and Christianity specifically) has caused most of the killing and bloodshed in the world. Have you heard that before? I'm sure most of you have. Is the claim true? What facts are there to back up this claim? Do you know how to respond to this claim? If you'd like help in responding to this assertion, Greg Koukl at Stand to Reason has a great one or two page article that tackles this problem head on. I think you'll find it worth reading. Pray for Pastor Greg Laurie and His Family

Christopher Laurie, son of Pastor Greg Laurie and Cathe Laurie of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, California, went home to be with the Lord this morning in a car accident in Riverside. A resident of Huntington Beach, California, Laurie, 33, served as the art director at Harvest Christian Fellowship for the past three years.

In addition to his parents, Christopher is survived by his wife, Brittany, and daughter, Stella, as well as his brother Jonathan. Christopher and his wife are expecting another daughter in November.

Memorial plans for Christopher are pending. More information will be posted to the Harvest website as details become available. You may pass along condolences and thoughts for the Laurie family by posting a comment on pastor Greg's blog by clicking here.

Spurgeon on Hell

I'm preparing to teach a study on hell in a few days. In my research I came across a quote on hell that I thought was stirring and worth sharing. Charles Spurgeon: "If sinners be dammed, at least let them leap to hell over our bodies. If they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees. Let no one go there unwarned and unprayed for." Be praying for your friends and families without Christ and exhort them to trust in Christ before it is too late. Eternity is coming. Update: We have this presentation now available on DVD, here.

A Resurgence in Interest in Apologetics

Christianity Today (a magazine that I've pretty much given up on because of its support of the Emerging Church Movement) has a worthwhile article on the resurgence in Christian apologetics. Click here to read.
